About 27 days from now, newly-elected President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. will take his oath of office at the historic National Museum of the Philippines as the 17th president of the country.
In a statement by the incoming Presidential Management Staff chief Zenaida Angping, she mentioned that inspections were already conducted by the inaugural committee and they found the museum a suitable venue for the inauguration, in addition, continuous preparations are underway to be fully ready by June 30.
"The National Museum of Philippines building and its surrounding areas match our requirements for President-elect Marcos' inauguration. Preparations are already in full swing to ensure that it will be ready by then" she said.
On their Facebook post, the National Museum said that they are deeply honored and expressed their gratitude to be chosen as the site for the inauguration.
“The National Museum of the Philippines is deeply honored by the official announcement of the choice of its National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila as the venue for the inauguration of the 17th President of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., on June 30, 2022.”
As part of the preparation and arrangements, the museum also announced that the National Museum for Fine Arts will be closed from June 6 to July 4 and will resume its operation on July 5.
The National Museum of the Philippines is formerly known as the Old Legislative Building where the inauguration of former presidents Manuel Quezon, Jose Laurel, and Manuel Roxas was officiated.
