The Philippine congress has proclaimed Marcos Jr and Sara Duterte as president-elect and vice president-elect.
Considered as a landslide win, the Philippine congress formalized the victory of Marcos and Duterte on Wednesday afternoon.
The Marcoses have succeeded in their agenda to return to Malacañang after almost 4 decades since the Filipino people ousted the late dictator Marcos Sr, Bongbong’s father in 1986. Meanwhile, vice president-elect Sara Duterte is to start her term following in the footsteps of her father, outgoing president Rodrigo Duterte.
Senator Imee Marcos, sister of president-elect Marcos Jr shares their mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos’ excitement over the victory of her son as president. Senator Imee says, “Well syempre ‘yong nanay ko sobrang excited. Sobrang excited niya at tuwang tuwa sa mga pangyayari”
She continues, “She is suddenly able to hear, to walk, lahat ng sakit sakit noong panahon ng COVID, lahat ng nararamdaman biglang nawala. Maliksing-maliksi. Parang hindi na siya ulit 92 kung hindi 29.”
Imelda Marcos age 92, former first lady of late dictator Marcos Sr, mother of Senator Imee, and president-elect Marcos Jr, miraculously able to hear and walk due to excitement over them regaining their family name and reputation by her son winning the 2022 elections.
Three years ago, when Imelda was 89, she was convicted guilty for seven counts of graft, and was to serve 6-11 years in prison for each of the seven counts of violating an anti-corruption law when she illegally funneled about $200 million to Swiss foundations in the 1970s as Metropolitan Manila governor. She posted a bail of $7,400 for provisional liberty afterwards. The court accepted the bond while it decided on her motion to remain free while she appealed the conviction. However, She said she failed to attend the next reading of her verdict because she wasn’t aware of it and also mentioned her frail health.
Currently, Imelda seems to not be in frail health anymore as she is miraculously able to walk and hear and is maliksing-maliksi, says her daughter.
