Work From Home Blues: How are you Dealing with Stress this Pandemic Outbreak?
By Jhoemz Vercide 24 Apr 2020 883

Don’t deny it! We all dreamt for a work from home setup before COVID-19 hit and forced us to shift in this kind of system—that light feeling that you can do all your tasks in the comfort of your home. Ugh, truly heaven!

We’re all tired of long lines and traffic just to get home, the daily routines at the workplace and the level of stress we endured every day—these are just some few of the many reasons why we wish for this kind of setup until we experienced it for more than a month now and yes, we are currently dealing with extraordinary stress.

The anxieties and stress we are bearing and experiencing working from the office didn’t just equal but surpass it! Admit it, it’s a real issue in the global workforce today. But why is this?

SOCIAL ISOLATION

You are losing from the idea of ‘work-life balance,’ aside from the thought that we are all at home which is literally isolation, we are all dealing with a catastrophic-like scenario, we forget to set our priorities outside our work life at home.

We lose ourselves from diving on the idea that we all should work to divert ourselves from the things that are happening around us.

Our social connections—our co-workers are one of the many reasons why we take our works lightly, good camaraderie could help you to get throughout the day when you’re in the office but not this time; not this moment that you already long for the feeling.

The loneliness we are feeling right now is really a serious thing we must focus on how to work it in this indefinite break.

TOO MANY DISTRACTIONS

You are distracted from the idea of ‘getting-yourself-away-from-distractions.’ Many of us are working from indoors but what if your house is not a home anymore where you can security and safety; this is another issue, we are distracted ‘cause our homes are not a perfect place to work with.

Workers who are living with children and relatives are also a source of major distraction. Instead of making it a peaceful place to continue grinding this will totally affect you but you can’t just voice out your concerns because it’s your family after all.

Not all have the strongest internet connection at home. Some are left with no choice but to still report on work using just load data and you can’t just tell these things to your superiors ‘cause you know it’s not their problem at all, do something.

We are distracted by the noise surrounding our homes. For a typical worker who lives in a typical residential area, mind you guys it’s really hard to keep things in place.

YOUR DRIVE TO BE PRODUCTIVE EMPLOYEE

I think many workers right now are dealing with this kind of dilemma. We want to do our best every day to give back our company who still let us work despite the uncertain sales of the company but the catch is, as much as we want to be the best employee each day, our superiors and co-workers might think that we are taking everything easy. They are thinking that we are not doing anything at all rather than pulling the weight of it.

You are too grateful that you still receive your monthly income so you want to do your best that you forget to eradicate the idea of separating your own time from your working hours. The tendency is you forget yourself to clock-out.

The three struggles stated above are some of the many things that we are facing right now, I’m sure many of us are facing so many problems right now and thinking on how to manage and somehow overcome it, as an employee who is currently dealing with this same situation, here are some of the tips I am going to share with you all and hoping to help you guys:

  • Set your schedule properly during work hours to avoid burning out.
  • Always keep it professional as if we are all still working in the office.
  • Be responsive as you can to drive your cognitive aspect well.
  • You are learning a different setup that you may find useful in the future.
  • Beware of too much multitasking and don’t push yourself to do everything.
  •

That’s it! Hang in there buddy, we’ll all get through this phase!
