US President Donald Trump announced on early Friday that he and his wife both tested positive for the coronavirus, during the final stretch of his reelection campaign.
"Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!" Trump said in a tweet, on Friday, October 2, afternoon.
The US President earlier announced he and the first lady were going into quarantine after Hope Hicks—a senior advisor who recently traveled with the president, tested positive.
Trump's test result came just a few days after his first presidential debate with Democratic challenger Joe Biden.
In a separate tweet, Melania Trump said he and the President were "feeling good" and have postponed all upcoming appointments.
At the age of 74 years old and considered obese as his Doctor said—Trump falls into the highest risk category for serious complications from the disease, which has already killed more than 200,000 American citizens and more than 1 million people worldwide.

The news that Trump has contracted the coronavirus just a few weeks ahead of the US election brings a halt to his in-person campaigning and doubts his appearance for the next televised debate, which was scheduled on Thursday, October 15.
