Is it right to open businesses in Tagaytay amid the unstable condition?
By Jhoemz Vercide 30 Mar 2020 938

It has been eleven days to be exact since the eruption of the Taal volcano has taken place and Alert level 4 remains over Taal which means the hazardous eruption is still within the days.

Some business establishments are considered by the local government of Tagaytay to re-open including hotels and restaurants especially those that are clean and ready to serve the public.

Despite the danger, business owners tend to go on 'business as usual' principle. Many of them started to go back to their normal operations as if the calamity ended and trying not to mind the effects of their actions without wholly thinking of what might happen.

Is it really right to resume Tagaytay’s normal cycle amid the devastation? Is it good to gradually put one of the country’s prime destinations in an uncertain situation? How about the welfare of the workers? The hazard of ashfall and other chemicals brought by the eruption?

They might think this as a perfect opportunity to go back on their normal routines but for many, this is a bad move. The scenario will only portray greediness and selfishness wherein even life is at stake they make sure profit follows.

The unstable condition didn’t bother the business owners to push on their normal operations even though Philvolcs is firm on reminding everyone to be always prepared for a sudden tragedy and major eruption at any moment now.

Tagaytay City Mayor Agnes Delgado-Tolentino approved on Friday a resolution granting the request of the City Tourism Council to allow establishments to open and serve residents and tourists.

The local government allowed the business to resume their operations and as per the recommendation of Tagaytay Tourism Council President Remedios Ramsay to the city government for the reopening of the establishments as the authorities said Tagaytay Ridge “does not need to be evacuated,” citing its elevation.

Restaurants and eateries guarantee that they will clean surroundings with working or assisting personnel and safe food, among other criteria.

On the other hand, we must understand the situation of the employees. They need to earn a living for their family and loved ones despite the current struggle they are facing right now.

What are your thoughts? Yes, you!

Is it fine for you to just pretend that life’s going to be back into the normal state amid the unstable condition while everything is on the verge of sudden destructions?
