Hotter days are coming: How long it would take for Metro Manila to endure 'Free Trial in Hell'?
By Jhoemz Vercide 20 May 2020 1091

This year’s summer season might be the hottest and hardest ever for all of us. We are forced to stay at home due to COVID-19 pandemic and experienced the burden of this weather.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said temperature is expected to further rise this month of May and as we counting on the remaining days of May, the free trial in hell in the Metro seems to be extended.

In the past weeks. We have experienced and even recorded the highest temperature this year with 36.8 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA defines “heat index” as the “apparent” temperature or what humans perceive or feel as the temperature affects their body. It is usually higher by at least two to three degrees Celsius than the actual air temperature.

They even reiterated the public about the dangers brought by a heat index (or the human-perceived temperature) ranging from 41 to 54°C such as heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Heatstroke is also possible amid continuous physical activity.

PAGASA's Heat Index Chart

Today at 3:50 pm, the maximum temperature recorded at Science Garden in Quezon City is 36.2 degrees Celsius and 41°C heat index.

The dry season will likely to continue before the rainy season starts this June.

Stay hydrated!
