The legendary actress was 95.

The news came from director Adolf Alix Jr., who directed her films "Adela" and "Circa,” which was confirmed by Anita's daughter Francesca Lake-Legaspi.

The director also posted a photo with the legendary actress on Instagram.

“This is a very sad day for me. I am trembling as I am gathering my thoughts...,” Alix wrote in the caption.

The industry is grieving the loss of yet another film legend. Her friends and co-workers in the industry have started to extend their condolences to Anita’s family on social media.

In June last year, she was honored by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) with an achievement award for her contributions to cinema as an actress and a mentor.

I just heard about the passing of the Great Anita Linda from director Adolfo Borinaga Alix Jr., and it's heartbreaking. Last year, I posted my memorable encounter with her. A once in a lifetime chance na makadaupang palad sya...this was what she said to me. ANITA: Liza, life has been good to me. Matanda na 'ko, malabo na ang mga mata ko, hindi na ako masyadong makarinig. Pero hanggang ngayon, nandito pa rin ako. Ayokong iwanan ang buhay dahil masarap mabuhay. It was such a humbling experience to have been able to spend a moment with one of our country's living treasures. To Miss Anita Linda, the industry is blessed to have you po. Thank you for being an inspiration to all of us. Your words will forever be in my heart. Paalam po. Hanggang sa muli... ❤

She has starred in numerous award-winning films like “Lola,” Alix’s “Adela," and “Ang Babae sa Bubungang Lata” for which she won the FAMAS Award for Best Supporting Actress at age of 74, making her the oldest actress to do so.

Among her other best-known projects were Lino Brocka’s 'Hellow, Soldier,' Mike de leon’s 'Sister Stella L,' and Brillante Mendoza’s 'Lola.'

REST IN PEACE, ANITA.
