The Department of Education (DepEd) says it expects all schools to conduct face to face classes in the next academic year 2022-2023
“By June, which is already a few days away from now, sa next academic school year, ini-expect natin na fully 100% na talaga 'yung pag-implement natin ng face-to-face classes,” says DepEd secretary Briones.
The 100% Briones is pertaining to the opening of all schools, including private ones which the DepEd were previously alarmed by that few private schools hold in-person learning.
Currently, around 73% of public schools have resumed face-to-face classes.
The Department of Health (DOH) says “Face-to-face attendance in school will allow children to develop their cognitive and social skills experientially, F2F promotes physical and mental health and well-being. This is based on the latest scientific evidence,”
Briones clarified that the setup would require the approval of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) and the local governments in areas where the schools were located and that physical classes are allowed only in areas under alert levels 1 and 2.
Meanwhile, DepEd undersecretary, Diosdado San Antonio, encourages to hold face-to-face classes while still observing blended learning modalities.
“There will be face-to-face classes on some days and remote learning on other days,” San Antonio said. “Once the IATF allows all schools to have physical classes, the DepEd will move that forward.” says San Antonio
