"We need edit button": Netizens react to Twitter's new story-like feature called 'Fleets'
By AJ Virtuz 18 Nov 2020 692

Say good bye to your “Will delete later” tweets, because Twitter launches its new feature called Fleets; a story-like new update which lets you post a photo or video that will end after 24 hours.

With Twitter’s new feature, any mobile Twitter user, will have access to the disappearing messaging feature, which just like Snapchat Snaps, Facebook My Day, and Instagram Stories — positioned right at the top of the timeline in a row of bubbles.

Fleets starts rolling out on Tuesday, November 17, on Android and iOS and should become available for everyone in the next days, the company says. Twitter aims for the new feature to help reduce the pressure in tweeting by letting users express more casual thoughts and feelings while also concerning themselves less with saying something insightful or opinionated.

“Fleets are for sharing momentary thoughts – they help start conversations and only stick around for 24 hours.” The company says in its blog post.

"To help people feel more comfortable, we've been working on a lower pressure way for people to talk about what’s happening. Today, we're launching Fleets so everyone can easily join the conversation in a new way – with their fleeting thoughts," says Twitter.

Meanwhile, internet users appear to have mixed feelings about Twitter debuting temporary stories, saying they could have just launched “edit button” which a lot have been requesting for Twitter’s next new feature.

Twitter says that Fleets are still evolving based on users’ feedback, and in the coming weeks will include more features like stickers and a broadcast function, according to the press release.
