The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has claimed on Monday, March 8, that the allegedly stolen P15 billion fund wasn’t pocketed by several executives but was distributed to different hospitals around the country.
PhilHealth has been under deep scrutiny due to scandals since last year, this is due to a corruption anomaly after its former anti-fraud officer Thorrsson Montes Keith claimed during Senate inquiry in August 2020 that all members of PhilHealth’s executive committee composed the “mafia,” which had been allegedly defrauding the corporation for around P15 billion in the past several years.
PhilHealth, however, announced on Monday as they took to Twitter and posted a list of liquidated amounts from more than 700 hospitals, showing the missing P15 billion was “properly accounted for.”
According to the post, 516 of the 711 hospitals have been fully liquidated, 153 healthcare facilities have liquidated at least 50%, while 42 have only liquidated below 50%.
Many netizens, however, are not buying the post, as they are mocking about the magical reappearance of the P15 billion missing funds.
