During the pandemic outbreak, we were reminded to take better care of our bodies. Aside from the additional safety precautions to avoid further spread of the virus, we were encouraged to stay healthy at all times in order to help boost our immune systems.
Among all the reminders, there was one that was frequently mentioned — that is, to keep hydrated.
Having safe and clean drinking water is a right that every person has, but not everyone has the privilege to get it. As explained by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in an article from Inquirer.net:
“Clean water is a basic human need, and one that should be easily accessible to all. There is sufficient fresh water on the planet to achieve this,”
“However, due to poor infrastructure, investment and planning, every year millions of people—most of them children — die from diseases associated with inadequate water supply, sanitation and hygiene,”
Because of the lack of development in some areas, low-income households and those who are residing in far-flung rural provinces has limited access to safe drinking water. Luckily, with the efforts of both the government and the private sector, the percentage of the Filipinos that has access to clean drinking water has been constantly increasing — from 46.34% in 2015, 46.56% in 2016, 46.78 % in 2017, 47% in 2018, 47.23% in 2019, and finally up to 47.46% in 2020.
For the rest who still do not have access to clean drinking water or to those who wants to be extra safe for themselves and their family, bottled water is their choice.
Nature’s Spring Water, for its 30th anniversary, is now among those doubling their efforts to give the Filipinos accessible and affordable clean drinking water, even for those situated in the farthest of places. This will now give more people the safety that they deserve and would help efforts to make it a habit to stay hydrated.
Even without the pandemic, it is very important that we drink enough water in order to replenish ourselves and avoid dehydration. It helps our minds and bodies to be stronger and healthier, in order to face any challenge that may come to us. Let’s us keep safe and hydrated at our homes, or wherever we may go.
