Zero innovation? New iPhone 12 almost the same as old iPhones
By AJ Virtuz 14 Oct 2020 710

On Tuesday, October 13, Apple has finally announced the highly anticipated new iPhone 12, during its #AppleEvent, after rumors about the new smartphone that have been circulating on social media as early as January this year.

The iPhone 12 series comes in many sizes — the iPhone 12 mini, which measures in 5.4 inches and the smallest iPhone design since the launch of the iPhone 5 in 2012, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, which measures in at 6.1-inches, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch screen.

The iPhone 12 comes in five colors: black, blue, green, red, and white. This information leaked shortly before Apple's event. While the iPhone 12 Pro comes in four: graphite, gold, silver, and its very first pacific blue.

The iPhone 12 mini’s price starts at $699, (roughly P34,000), the iPhone 12 at $799 (roughly P38,900), the "Pro" version starts at $999 (roughly P48,700), and the "Pro Max" version starts at $1,099 (roughly P53,500).

The iPhone 12 series’ new features include: Super Retina XDR display — 2x pixels as the iPhone 11, aluminium frame, ceramic shield — a toughest glass with 4x the chance of surviving without cracking, 5G compatible — you can enjoy faster Internet connection, If you are in areas where 5G signal is available, Smart Data Mode (auto-switches to normal speeds if you don't need 5G).

Also, the new iPhone series includes the much awaited A14 Bionic processor, a powerful chip that will be released yet — Apple's first 5nm chip, compared to 7nm for the A13 Bionic. This should result in a better performance compared to 11. The A14 Bionic chip is promised to be 15% faster performance while using 30% less power.

Despite its upgrade and promising features, some of the online users seemed unhappy and disappointed with the new smartphone, saying it has zero innovation, and has the same features as the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 12 series will be available for pre-order on November 6 this year while the ship-out date will be on November 13.
