Your favorite cosplayers Hakken, Shunsuke, and Knite are speaking Filipino?
By Lianne Dime 15 Mar 2022 1143

The renowned Filipina cosplayer and co-founder of Tier One Entertainment, Alodia Gosiengfiao, shook the online community on Thursday, March 10, by posting a picture alongside renowned cosplayers, Hakken, Shunsuke, and Knite with a caption “Welcome to the Philippines”. This corresponds to a prior post on the Tier One Entertainment Facebook page announcing the signing of the cosplayers.

This made a frenzy on different social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, and Facebook. Fans are quick to comment and express their enthusiasm that their favorite cosplayers are visiting the country. Moreover, the excitement was amplified when Hakken, Shunsuke, and Knite started posting pictures with Filipino captions like “Mahal Kita”, and the infamous “hi pipinos”. People immediately pointed out the slang and questioned who was teaching them these phrases. As expected, it generated a lot of buzz on the internet, especially on Tiktok.

When the cosplayers were asked about what Filipino word they have learned on an Instagram live that happened yesterday, March 14, the three promptly answered “pipino” before uttering a common Filipino curse word which is usually taught to the foreigners who arrive in the country. This, again, became one of the popular topics of discussion among fans and netizens.

Needless to say, Filipinos are overjoyed by the sudden visit of their favorite cosplayers in the Philippines and are surely delighted by their fan interaction and interest in the culture.
