What is Pinoys’ typical Christmas wish-list for exchange gifts?
By Jhoemz Vercide 18 Dec 2020 986

With festive decorations, numerous parties, feast-like celebrations, and dozens of presents to give, we can say that the Christmas season is also known as the most ‘expensive’ season of every year, admit it.

Gift-giving is one of the main highlights of the most wonderful time of the year. Unwrapping those boxes in all shapes and sizes makes us even more excited, and yes, it’s truly indescribable.

To Filipinos, it’s everything-- It has become a traditional gesture and a symbolism on Christmas day that we all look forward to each year. But, of course, we do have our own Christmas gift wishlist prepared in case someone from the heavens above asked for it.

Speaking of exchange gifts, did you know what’s on the top list of many Filipinos who wish to receive presents this year? Check the following list below.

HAND WATCHES

Who wouldn’t want to have hand watches this Christmas, they're designed to be worn and enjoyed every day which is a perfect gift to be given to your loved ones, and as Filipinos who are really into fashion, watches are part of everyone’s outfit ‘mix and match’.

It’s one of Pinoys’ typical gifts ‘cause it served a meaningful purpose aside from its use to check the time, I mean there's no greater satisfaction than giving them something you know they'll use and love.

SHOES

Filipinos are shoe-addict in nature. In every household in the country, each one has more than two pairs of it even without a factual basis or data that will prove to it, it’s just we love to collect them and treat them as our ‘babies’.

The gratifying feeling of having more shoes is unexplainable to us, and even having enough shoes on our racks, there’s thrust telling us to get more. It’s not a question, it will never be replaced in every Filipino’s Christmas wish-list.

CLOTHES

Aside from shoes, clothes are no doubt belong in the typical Pinoy Christmas wish-list. Of course, we want more, the fulfilling feeling we get whenever we see our closets full of wardrobes, we see it as an achievement.

But despite having ‘overloaded closets’, the mindset of running out of clothes to wear always haunts us which pushed us to buy more even though we have enough of them, that’s why in most Christmas parties, clothes are typically one of the most requested gifts.

GADGETS

Well, assuming it’s a huge family party and your rich titos and titas ask you what do you want for Christmas, of course, you need to go big or go home. Many family gatherings are uplifting the spirit of generosity, and since it’s a family occasion, they will surely pull strings as many as they can to look good of themselves—grand gifts are on the line!

Gadgets are what many Filipinos dreamt to have, and yes it’s on the list of everyone’s wish-list ‘cause why not? In the modern age of techy, we all want to follow trends in all aspects of life.

MONEY

Probably, the number one wish of all people on the entire planet, not just every Christmas but every day, admit it, humans.

Money is basically connected to everything we desire in life, and I can’t explain further why it’s in the typical Christmas list of Filipinos, it’s because we want it to buy what we all wanted.

Gift giving may be a vital component of Christmas as we imbibe the essence of giving, but we must not forget that Jesus, our savior, is the main reason of the day.

Have a safe Christmas celebration, everyone!
