#Undas2020: All cemeteries closed from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4
By Jhoemz Vercide 28 Oct 2020 747

Heads up, today is the last day to visit your loved ones at the cemeteries!

Starting tomorrow, October 29, all cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbarium nationwide will be closed for Undas until November 4, 2020, as per Malacañang.

“Lahat ng mga pribado at pampublikong sementeryo, memorial parks kasama na ang mga columbarium ay isasara sa mga bisita mula October 29 hanggang November 4, 2020,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in an online briefing.

The traditional way of paying respect to our departed loved ones will not be taken place this year to prevent mass gatherings that may lead to the further spread of COVID-19.

Visitors will not be allowed in public and private cemeteries just for a week as similar to the proposal of 17 Metro Manila mayors.

From September 17 to November 15 excluding the aforementioned dates, Roque said cemeteries will be open but only with a limited capacity of 30 percent, but all visitors during this period must wear face shields and masks, while observing physical distancing.

“Pwede naman po tayo dumalaw bago isara at matapos isara ang mga sementeryo pero 30 percent nga po ang capacity, kinakailangan [magsuot ng] face masks at face shields,” he said.

As sad as it may seem, we can still offer our prayers and remember our loved ones at home.

May you all have a peaceful celebration!
