UAAP CDC 2022: FEU Triumphs After 13 Years
By Grace Alcantara 23 May 2022 943

Far Eastern University (FEU) cheering squad bags the champion title of UAAP CDC 2022. It’s the first time since their last championship win in 2009.  Their first championship win was in 1998.

Their successful return as champions of the cheerdance competition is brought about by their Queen rock-and-roll theme dance. They gave out a clean performance of structured pyramids, tumbles, and tosses in the span of just 3 minutes.

The FEU Tamaraw wore dark green long sleeve outfits with gold linings in the middle, the FEU champions garnered a whooping 727.5 points for their distinctive performance. They have defeated the reigning consecutive winners from the last two seasons, National University (NU), FEU blocked NU’s 3peat.

Even though there was a 2 year break from the CDC competition because of the COVID19 pandemic, the FEU Tamaraws showed supremacy with their performance and practiced long and hard for this year's CDC.

“We’ve been runner-up for the past years. Finally, we won a title. The preparation was so hard. 15 people and three minutes. If six minutes was short, what more for this three-minute performance. We could also do more with 25 people,” said FEU head coach Randell San Gregorio in Filipino. “As they say, the struggle is real. We’re just so happy that finally we got over the hump,”

Here's one reaction from the online crowd:

Adamson University pep squad ranks second to FEU, with their country music inspired performance. They garnered 688.5 points.

Meanwhile, NU dropped down to third place with their 90s music performance. The NU Bulldogs 681 points for their performance. They were awarded 20,000 pesos, plus another 40,000 pesos from Silka Awra Dance Move special award.

Fourth place was UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, fifth UE Pep Squad, sixth UP Pep Squad, followed by DLSU Animo Squad, and lastly Ateneo Blue Eagles.
