This is not a drill, Swifties! The so-called “Music Industry” herself once again surprised us with a second album this year, entitled “evermore”!
Prior to its release, Swift tweeted “not a lot going on at the moment”, which fans had left to think that the American singer may have something up her sleeve once again. And on Thursday midnight, December 10, Taylor did not disappoint her fans — as she confirmed that she will be releasing new album on the next day.
“I’m elated to tell you that my 9th studio album, and folklore’s sister record, will be out tonight at midnight eastern. It’s called evermore.” Swift said on her post.
Taylor Swift also unveiled the titles of the 15 tracks of the new album, including collaborations with Haim, The National, and Bon Iver — who was also featured on the folklore album.
On December 11, 1 PM, Swift finally released evermore, which then became certified as silver in QQ Music Chart for selling over 1 million units in China, in just 54 minutes. With this, Taylor officially becomes the first ever artist to have 4 albums to sell over 1 million digital copies each in China. The new album also reaches #1 on US iTunes Albums chart.
Along with the album release, the Grammy winner also dropped the music video of the one of the new album tracks, “Willow.” leaving some fans around the world into wonder if she has secretly married boyfriend Joe Alwyn as the singer is wearing an amazing bridal-inspired dress in the music video.

In a separate post, Taylor explained the release of her 9th studio album.
"To put it plainly, we just couldn't stop writing songs. To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in," Swift explained.
“not a lot going on at the moment” is now being considered by Swifties as Taylor Swift’s hint that she’s into something for her fans. This has been proven when she first posted the caption on April 27, on her social media accounts with her selfie. A few months later, Taylor surprised her fans with a new studio album “folklore,” becoming the very first album in 2020 to sell 1 million copies. In addition to her 8th studio album’s success, folklore also spent 8 non-consecutive weeks on the Bilboard 200 chart — becoming the album to have spent most weeks at No. 1 for any album since Drake’s Views notched 13 non-consecutive weeks in 2016.
