The Original Binondo Fried Chicken House: A Must-Visit Food Place

The oldest established Chinatown in the world, Binondo, would normally be every foodie's destination for what we call "Authentic Chinese Restaurants" in Manila. But what if we tell you that you can find the same level of home-cooked Chinese Cuisine with more parking space and less traffic? Welcome to The Original Binondo Fried Chicken House, conveniently located in the middle of Otis Street, Manila.

The Original Binondo Fried Chicken House was established in 2016 by father and son tandem, Albert Uy Sr and Albert Irving Uy. Knowing the restaurant's specialty is as easy as referring to its name: Chinese Style Fried Chicken!

"I can say that the (Original) Binondo Chicken House is a restaurant that stays true to serving home-cooked style food," says its in-house chef, Albert Sr.

The management team has decided to rebrand their restaurant into "Chicken Fan Lian" which will also communicate to the growing mainland Chinese community in Manila when they expand to different branches around the Metro in the next few years.

Still staying true to their being a "hole-in-the-wall" destination, the restaurant's interiors have barely changed and still retains its very "homey" atmosphere. Aside from their dine-in space, they also offer 2 rooms on the second floor that can serve private functions good for 10 and 30 pax respectively.

Once you enter, you will be greeted with smiling staff members, ready to serve their guests. Their daily clientele is normally from the different businesses located in their locale but their delivery-orders provided by Grab-food are slowly taking over the dine-in kitchen orders. Drive-by customers for their take-out orders can also order in advance so it will be ready by the time they arrive. This is done in order to keep their cooked meals fresh and made-to-order.

What's their secret behind this growing loyalty from their customers? Affordability does not compromise taste. "I can assure them of our food's freshness. I personally go to the market daily, buy the best and freshest ingredients in order to provide affordable and delicious food the way my parents used to," says Albert Sr.

Their servings are huge and are already good for sharing, making it perfect for small family gatherings and friendly get-togethers.

Steamed Lapu-Lapu

Their steamed Lapu-Lapu was to die for! The fish, soft and tasty. It was cooked really well and the flavors came out perfectly. No bad fishy taste for this dish. We recommend!

Patatim

The center of the table is occupied by the generous serving of Patatim! Priced at a respectable P600 but don't get scared with the price because it can feed the entire family! I personally can't get over its very tender meat.

Fried Oyster Cake

Quekiam (Kikiam)

The Fried Oyster Cake and the Quekiam were family heirloom recipes that passed all the way from their roots in China. The sauce of both dishes alone are also freshly made with no preservatives.

Yang Chow Fried Rice

Yang Chow Fried Rice is one of their bestsellers. Personally, I gauge the greatness of a Chinese resto with the basic yang chow. Binondo Fried Chicken House's version is just plain delicious! You can even eat it on its own!

Original Fried Chicken

Spicy Fried Chicken

So on to their specialty: THE FRIED CHICKEN! Yummy! Succulent, flavorful, and fried to perfection! It's everything a good chinese-style fried chicken should be! Tip to those who would want a fiery kick: order the spicy one! Such generous serving size too, imagine a half order already has 10 fairly sized pieces - dream of that!

With all of this, please GO and VISIT The Original Binondo Fried Chicken House and treat yourself to Yummy Chinese Food without hurting your pockets! See you there!
