Taylor Swift Fans Apparently Beg NYU Students for their Graduation Tickets
By Grace Alcantara 28 Apr 2022 786

Swifties need to calm down!

Apparently, Taylor Swift fans are begging students of New York University for their graduation tickets.

The “All too well” and 11-time Grammy winner, will be awarded her first doctorate degree and deliver a commencement speech for the NYU graduation. In the previous semester, New York University offered a course to study Taylor’s work. Taught at the Clive Davis Institute for Recording Music at NYU, this course covered Swift’s career, songwriting, musical influences, and feminism.

This got superfans excited, maybe a little too excited. Swifties bombarded NYU students’ social media accounts and offered up to 500 US dollars just to attend and see Taylor receive her honorary degree at the Yankee stadium on May 18th.

A student described to the New York Post that these fans are “invasive, and something wacky to laugh about among other NYU students”. Reddit users also posted and asked the NYU seniors if their tickets are on the market to sell, posts have been taken down as of late.

According to TheClick, the blog that first reported this phenomenon, NYU senior student Caitllin Hornick had fans asking her for tickets for the past few days. “It’s not like a Taylor Swift concert. It’s a graduation ceremony” she said. “So the fact that people are willing to pay absurd prices just to get into Yankee Stadium to get a glimpse of Taylor Swift to get this honorary doctorate is just absurd to me” the student explained.

Some students are afraid of disciplinary action due to the school’s ticketing policy, which prohibits graduates from auctioning their tickets. Students who do not follow policy may be delayed in obtaining their degree or diploma.

“Tickets are free and available only to eligible candidates in the classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022 and their guests,” read from the site of NYU.

Taylor Swift herself and her team has no comment yet about this issue.
