#TANGINAMODUTERTE trends on Twitter after the President’s late-night address!
By Mamaro 03 Aug 2020 956

It seems like Duterte’s late-night announcement has shaken us all with regards to his statements.

In his address, the President himself has granted the medical frontliners’ plea for a ‘breathing space’ as they have been overwhelmed by the surge of cases in the past weeks.

The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) request did not fall on deaf ears, but not to what exactly they have proposed—to go back to ECQ status to control strategies and addressing the urgent health sector problems—as the chief executive just decided to place Metro Manila and nearby provinces under modified enhanced community quarantine instead.

Part of Duterte’s televised address was his message for the medical professionals, and netizens seem not to like it and express rage following the ‘mouthful’ remarks towards medical workers.

Duterte told the medical community that the government is doing everything possible to alleviate the situation and to assist our health workers.

“I have heard you, wag kayo mawalan ng pag-asa. We are aware you are tired,” Duterte said.

The president has reacted to the plea and even said they should have just written a letter instead of publicly telling the government what to do.

“Huwag kayo magsigaw-sigaw, revolution. Magsabi kayo revolution, then ngayon na, try it. I am not threatening you, pero gusto ko lang subukan nyo. I dare you, do it,” the president said. “Pag magrebolusyon kayo, you will give me a free ticket to stage a counter revolution. How I wish you would do it,” he continued.

After the statements, #TANGINAMODUTERTE tops twitter trends as netizens express their anger.

Aside from the ire created last night from the ‘very’ late address for the Filipino, ‘MECQ,’ '9 trillion,' '#LetLeniLead,' were also on the trending topics on Monday morning.
