On October 8 and 9, the Korean Boyband SEVENTEEN was lauded by Filipino Carats as they performed their two-day “Be The Sun” Tour in Manila.
One of the most frequently asked questions for SEVENTEEN was the story behind their name. SEVENTEEN stands for 13 members, 3 units, and 1 group; 13 + 3 + 1 = 17. The Korean group debuted in 2015 with 13 members - Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, the8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. The boyband got categorized into three units to cater to different areas - hip-hop, performance, and vocal. In 2020, HYBE Label or formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment, the home of the world-renowned BTS and other known Korean artists, acquired the band’s management, Pledis Entertainment.
As they gain popularity all over the globe, their world tours are highly anticipated by fans worldwide. With the Philippines not being exempted from this craze, their two-day sold-out concert was powered by Pledis Entertainment, Hybe, and Live Nation PH, in partnership with Smart Communications, Inc. and Viu Philippines.
Thousands of Filipino Carats rushed to Mall of Asia Arena at the dawn of October 8 to not only have the privilege to enter the arena earliest but also to participate in fan activities and projects organized by their fellow supporters. These activities include giving away freebies such as photocard of their bias and organizing fan projects.
As the fans await their idols, the hashtags #BETHESUNinMNL #BeTSinMANILA and #BeTSinMANILA made their way to the top trending topics in different social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Tiktok.
When the concert began, the arena lit up as Carats’ cheered for the group’s show with their light sticks illuminating the whole place.
To conclude the concert, the Korean superstars promised to return to Manila but in a “stadium.” Their admirers online speculated that the next venue for their comeback could possibly be in Philippine Arena in Baliuag, Bulacan.
