SAKALAM! P-pop boy group phenomenon SB19 marks another history for receiving a nomination for Top Social Artist category for the Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) 2021, they are the very first Filipino act to do so.

The list of artists who bagged the same nomination were released last night via livestream, with Filipino-American social media star Bretman Rock announcing the artists for their category.

The Billboard Music Award for Top Social Artist is one of three fan-voted categories in the award show. It is awarded based on major fan interactions with the artist's music including streaming and social engagement, together with the global online voting results.

Nominated along with SB19 for the for Top Social Artist category are Ariana Grande and K-pop groups BTS, Blackpink, and SEVENTEEN.

From 2011 to 2016, Canadian superstar Justin Bieber took home the award, but that streak was broken with the entry of BTS, which has been the consistent winner since 2017 until 2020.

The Billboard Music Awards 2021 will be streamed live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, USA, on May 23.
