Requirements, safety guidelines you need to know before visiting Baguio
By AJ Virtuz 11 Mar 2021 1456

Summer is just around the corner and we know what’s the perfect place to visit during this season — the Summer Capital of the Philippines! And the good news is that Baguio is now open to tourists! So you can now drive up to Baguio City to escape the heat, experience the calming weather, and wake up to foggy mornings.

On March 3, Baguio City announced that presenting a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test or swab test result is no longer required before stepping foot in the city, unless mandated by the tourist’s accommodation establishments or public transport providers.

Before you travel to Baguio, here are the things you need to know:

What to prepare (Pre-Travel Checklist):

Confirmed itinerary and accommodation booking, valid ID, and ID photo are required for uploading when you create your Baguio VISITA account.

How to create Baguio VISITA Account?

Before visiting to Baguio, all tourists will be required to create an account in visita.baguio.gov.ph.

To create an account, visit the website and tap ‘Schedule a Visit’ on the homepage. This will prompt you to sign up and register where you will need to input personal information, such as address, contact details, valid government ID and a current photo. Afterwards, an email will be sent to verify your email address.

Once you’ve been registered, you will now have access to your personal dashboard on visita.baguio.govt.ph and can now schedule your visit. If you do not have your confirmed accommodation bookings yet, you can come back to this page anytime once those details are ready.

Book your Accommodation

Tourists are required to book an accommodation upon creating your Baguio VISITA account.

The next step is to book your accommodation with DOT-accredited establishments and hotels with a Certificate of Authority to Operate. Tourists may choose their Baguio accommodation from the list provided on visita.baguio.gov.ph.

Although a negative COVID-19 swab test may not be required upon entering Baguio, some accredited accommodations and tour operators may require this to guests. So it is important check first with your accommodation/tour operator for more information.

NOTE: Tourists are also required to plan and arrange tour itinerary upon creating Baguio VISITA account.

Save a copy of your QR Code Tourist Pass (QTP)

If you have met all the requirements above, you will receive an email indicating the approval of your request to travel, together with your unique QTP (QR Code Tourist Pass), which can be either downloaded or printed. This will serve as a contact tracing mechanism, your Health Declaration ID and travel pass through any border checkpoints and establishments you wish to visit — so it’s important bring this with you while you are in Baguio!

What to Expect:

  • Tourists of all ages are allowed to visit Baguio City.
  • QR-coded tourist pass should be presented in all checkpoints, hotels, tourism establishments, and tourist sites.
  • Guests should proceed to triage upon arrival. These are located at the CAP Convention Center, Camp John Hay (open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Baguio Convention Center (open 24 hours).
  • Tourist arrivals are capped at 750 pax a day (as of October 28, 2020).
  • Same-day trips are allowed.
  • General curfew is from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m., while liquor ban is from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m.

Also, please do not forget to be a responsible tourist. As much as possible, stick to your declared itinerary and comply with the minimum health and safety standards implemented in the area at all times such as wearing face masks and face shields, practicing hand washing or sanitizing, and social distancing.
