Zombie fans, this is it! The much-awaited South Korea’s zombie movie of the year “Train to Busan 2: Peninsula” is finally here!
Four years after the worldwide phenomenon success of “Train to Busan” which gained almost 10 times more revenue compared to the budget has truly set the world’s expectation into a much higher level.
To cut the confusion, this is not a SEQUEL of the first movie with the same origin of the title which was released in 2016, it would have a different storyline than the first installment and will be a standalone part which will have an all-new story.
Here are the latest updates on the upcoming action-movie horror of the year:
STORYLINE/PLOT
According to the published article on the ChroniclesPr, there are a lot of details about the plot of this new movie.
In an interview with the director Yeon Sang Ho by Screendaily, the first important point is that this movie is a sequel only in name and is set four years later in the same world as the first movie but there will be no overlapping or continued storyline and characters.
As seen on the trailer, it is set the ruins of the Korean Peninsula which have seen the collapse of civilization due to the zombie outbreak.
The story will follow a former soldier, Dong-Won Gang who escaped from the containment zone must now return to retrieve something important. The whole peninsula has been sealed off from the rest of the world.
CASTS
Don’t expect a comeback of the original cast given the high-casualty rate in the first movie and this is not a direct continuation of its story.
Hence, we might be able to see some new faces joining the cast including Gang Dong-won and Lee Jung Hyun as the leads, Kwon Hae-hyo as Kim Noh In-–the oldest member of Min Jung’s crew, Kim Min-jae and Koo Kyo-hwan, as the leader of the Korean Peninsula’s surviving military units, and Lee Re as another member of Min Jung’s crew who has a very big and impressive role in the film.
