Netizens claimed that Kapamilya singer Daryl Ong put the blame on the people picketing to protest amidst the COVID-19 outbreak for a possible placement of some areas in the Philippines under enhanced community quarantine on his now-deleted Facebook post yesterday, July 27, 2020.
It sparked negative reactions and criticisms from the online users saying it’s the government he should blame why COVID-19 cases in the country continue to increase.
Meanwhile, medical experts and research proved that protests did not spike Coronavirus cases in the middle of the pandemic, saying "protest is a profound public health intervention.", and according to Forbes' article, researchers found “no evidence that urban protests reignited Covid-19 case growth during the more than three weeks following protest onset.”
It can be recalled that Daryl Ong also went viral last month when he revealed on his YouTube vlog that an ABS-CBN boss banned him after he was reportedly had a conversation with his fellow singer Bugoy Drilon about the franchise renewal issue of the Kapamilya network. The revelation of the singer received various reactions from netizens and fellow celebrities.
