Have you seen the controversial docu-film on Netflix today? Go and get thrilled with this extraordinary and awful story of the Watts family.

American Murder: Family Next Door was premiered last September 30, 2020, on the streaming site giving the voice, truth, and justice for the victims.

It follows the story of Watts family who lives in Colorado USA, happily and perfectly. The conflict started when Shanann Watts and her two daughters Bella and Cece mysteriously went missing in 2018. The disappearance was reported by Shannan's friend Nicole Atkinson to the police, and Shannan's husband Chris Watts looks for them, and then the mystery unfolds.

The film was smoothly told through social media posts, police footage, text messages, and home videos, instead of a typical format of documentary interview.

We can literally feel that their family and friends are present in the documentary, sharing their sides of the story. It was written perfectly in a way that the people were revealed gradually as the story unfolds.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

The horrifying truth was revealed as the documentary dug up the truth in a roller coaster quest.

Here’s what happened:

In the wee hours of August 13, 2018, 38-year-old married Shanann Watts arrived back at her home in Frederick, Colorado after a brief business trip, she was pregnant with their third child at the time. Her colleague Nicole Atkinson who has gone to her house and spent the whole day trying to reach her reported Shannan and the kids missing.

Atkinson shared the news to Shannan’s husband Chris Watts who eagerly looked for them, but, two days later, after a lengthy interrogation by the local police, Chris Watts admitted to killing his wife and children.

There’s no way in this whole wide world can tantamount the pain for the bereaved families. This is unforgivable and inhumane.

The film has introduced a new form of televised crime documentary. Its power to construct a narrative out of archival footage is truly admirable.

This tragedy has once again given us life’s deception of social media, not everything we see on our screens is the truth.

If you are really into crime, mystery, and mind-blowing genre of film, then, watch this documentary.
