Oh no, not again! It seems like Vincentiments’ latest video content went viral for all the wrong reasons.
On Friday, August 7, 2020, the Facebook page, ‘VinCentiments’, known for its hugot and relatable content, has posted a video about the ‘realities’ that we all may face in adapting online classes which resulted to earn the ire of the netizens.
The short film showed a student struggling to participate in an online class. She started to rant about different problems engaging the new form of learning such as slow internet connection, higher fees, possible effects of the uncontrolled external environment, the conduciveness of learning at home, and led to criticism towards the teachers about the adjustment of education in new normal.
The whole video lasted for almost 10 minutes which portrayed by the same actor who became controversial in the video about single moms.
Clearly, the video creators Daryl Yap and Vincent Asis are calling for an academic freeze.
But, netizens, educators, and different institutions have expressed rage and dismayed over the video for which they called as shaming and ‘antagonizing’ the teachers.
The University of the Philippines (UP) College of Education Student Council slammed the latest episode and issued an open letter to the creators.
“While we recognize that it aims to voice out the concerns of students with regard to online classes, the latest episode of VinCentiments entitled “Online Class” is outright irresponsible, insensitive, and infuriating. The video narrows down learning into the traditional mode wherein it is only facilitated in the classroom,” UP College of Education Student Council said.
The UP College of Education student council said that the video antagonizes teachers by portraying them as harsh and ignorant to the concerns of students which they believed was a direct insult to educators whose efforts, for the past months, are directed towards adjusting syllabi, curricula, modules, and lesson plans in order to ensure the delivery of quality and compassionate education amidst the pandemic.
The University of the Philippines College of Education Student Council also urged the director and creators of the video to take it down as soon as possible, saying, “Our teachers do not deserve this disrespect.”
Famous online personality Macoy Dubs have also posted ‘open tweets’ directly addressing one of the page’s creators about his sentiment on the video.
The online star who is also an instructor at Letran pointed out that Yap should use his influence and popularity in the right way given that he’s a filmmaker.
“Di naman sa nakikiride sa kemerut ng Vincentiments ah pero as a college instructor nakaka-offend. What more sa mga Teachers talaga? Shuta ka, Daryl Yap. Ba't ganyan ka magsulat?,” Macoy said in a tweet.
As of writing, the said video has been receiving a lot of reactions and comments on social media.

Meanwhile, the Facebook page Vincentiment has responded to the massive criticisms they are currently receiving.
“We will not apologize for hurt that’s taken by choice. We can only explain our art to you; we cannot understand it for you. They watch us not with the intention of understanding, but with the intention of misreading the message,” the page said.
