A lot of change has really come in Pasig City just a year after Mayor Vico Sotto took over the seat—a manifestation of good governance and leadership.

On his 31st birthday, the millennial mayor has achieved a new milestone—20-year contractual workers no longer exist in his beloved city as what he promised during his campaign to end the patronage politics in the city. (Read here: “No to surprise party please,” is what Mayor Vico wants for his birthday!)

Sotto signed the appointment papers for regularization of 100 employees which have been working for decades including a street sweeper and an engineering aide, as revealed in a Facebook post.

I am happy to announce: WALA NANG NAIWAN NA KONTRAKTWAL SA MGA EMPLEYADO NATING MAHIGIT 20 YRS NANG NASA SERBISYO 😃💪💪💪” Vico wrote. “Delayed by covid-19, our employee regularization program continues!

Earlier this year, Sotto shared a story of a then contractual worker of Pasig City hall for 43 years named Roberto Rodrigo, he was included in the first batch of employees who have been appointed as one of the new regular and permanent workers.

Ito po si Roberto Rodrigo. Mahigit 43 YEARS na contractual (casual) employee ng Pasig City Hall,” Vico wrote. “Permanent na siya ngayon.”

In an interview with Rappler, Mayor Sotto said that those who have worked for 15 years are next in line to be regularized.

Indeed, this is what our country needs today! Way to go, Mayor Vico and Pasig City!
