We can’t deny that Filipinos have been a fan of posting contents on TikTok — a mobile app where you can show your creativity and talent by creating various videos that contain humor, talent, art, etc.

And recently, one of the trending contents in the app is “Museo de Filipino.” It is said to be one of the educational trend in TikTok, as this contains topics that address, introduce, and expose various national heroes, people who died unjustly, rape victims, human rights injustices, social issues, corruption, and such.

There are “on” and “off” buttons in each video. When the “on” button is clicked, these inanimate faces begin to move and tell the story of the character that the creator is portraying.

Some of the characters that were introduced in the trend were the national heroes Lapu-Lapu, Gabriela Silang, and Antonio Luna.s

While the victims of human rights injustices were also featured in the likes of Fabel Pineda, a 15 year old innocent girl who was raped by two policemen, she later on filed a case against the two rapist. Pineda requested for a security escort to accompany her and her family home but was denied, and as they walked their way home, two riding-in-tandem assailants gunner her down.

The trend also introduced Jennifer Laude, a transwoman who was killed by a Lance Corporal Joseph Scott Pemberton, who was granted an absolute pardon this year by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Also, they featured Delia Dueña, better known as Pepsi Paloma; an actress who was allegedly drugged and gang raped by three famous personalities. Paloma was later on found dead in her apartment.

Our country indeed has a lot of issues that need to resolve, injustices that need to decry, and government failures that need to address. And this current trend gives us goosebumps, and it’s really helpful to address these matters as it educates people regarding our history and issues of the country.

It is really an eye opener that brings awareness about the heroes of our country and we all can definitely learn from it. It also can be an effective medium for our young generations to become well-educated.
