On Thursday, June 4, 2020, amidst the resistance and outrage to the anti-terror bill which feared majority that it might be solely used by the government against its critics and opposition. Mocha Uson, Deputy Administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), has struck once again by tagging the #JunkTerrorBillNow protesters as ‘terrorists’ – the thing that Filipinos are most worried about the bill.
Uson’s now-deleted the tweet that pertained to the various youth groups picketed at the University of the Philippines Diliman last June 4.
Her tweet was screenshot by netizens which immediately went viral – making her a top trending Twitter topic today. Some Twitter users believe that the OWWA deputy administrator insulted hundreds who protested yesterday to oppose the anti-terrorism bill that was certified as "urgent" by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Uson’s mislabelling of the bill fuelled angers and concerns about how the Anti-Terrorism Bill could be misused and abused by the administration which was recently slammed by the United Nations for its human rights violations. It can be recalled that last month, the National Bureau of Investigation said they were conducting probe into Uson for posting fake news.
