April 2025, Tokyo - Global apparel retailer UNIQLO will release a UT (UNIQLO T-shirt) collection of graphic T-shirts celebrating the history of the Gundam series that has captivated so many people over the last 45 years. Items will be available on May 5, 2025 in the Philippines. This limited edition collection includes exclusive illustrations drawn by mechanical designer Kunio Okawara, one of the creators of the eponymous giant robot, as well as graphics from the first season of the Mobile Suit Gundam series; the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series, which had a theatrical release in 2024; and the global hit series Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.
A UT original augmented reality (AR) project is also being launched in conjunction with the collection release, allowing users to see a Gundam standing before their eyes. Shoppers in Japan will also be able to use AR to experience a dynamic life-size Gundam near seven stores. Gundam fans can look forward to enjoying the collection together with the AR project.
