The long wait is over, Smilers! Miley Cyrus officially released her much-awaited new album ‘Plastic Hearts’, introducing her new genre of music.
The restro-inspired rock-ish album Plastic Hearts was released on Friday, November 27, 2020, four days after Cyrus’s 28th birthday.
Plastic Hearts, which peaked number one on US iTunes, few hours after release — contains 15 tracks including her previously-released singles “Midnight Sky,” which peaked number one in iTunes Philippines and UK chart, “Prisoner” Dua Lipa, and Edge of Midnight (Midnight remix) with Stevie Nicks.
Aside from Lipa and Nicks, Miley’s 7th album Plastic Hearts also features collaborations with Billy Idol with the song Nigh Crawling, and Joan Jett with Bad Karma. American singer's new sound mirrors music made in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
In addition to her own new songs in the album, the new tracks also contain Miley’s recent live covers of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” and The Cranberries’ “Zombie” from the iHeart Festival and the NIVA Save Our Stage Festival.
In a recent interview with Apple Music, the Hannah Montana star recounted how Billy Idol's works had inspired her new album and attitude towards the songs.
“His music — the way that he married rebellion but also his music where he had incredible hooks. And he showed me that I could have balance, that I could make music that I and other people love,” she said.
“And sometimes I’ve lost that and I’ve found that again where it’s like, ‘I want to make music for me,” added Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus and her new album became a trend on Twitter worldwide ahead of its release, as fans expressed their excitement upon the album release.
