DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin 'Boying' Remulla revealed on Thursday that the alleged middleman on veteran broadcaster Percy Lapid murder has died at the New Bilibid Prison on October 18, coincidentally the same date where Joel Escorial, the surrendered gunman had his press conference. According to Remulla, the middleman departed at the prison hospital.
“He was rushed to the hospital at 2:30, unable to breathe. He was pronounced dead at 3 in the afternoon. That’s the report given to me. Kanina ko lang nakuha ‘yung report," said Secretary Remulla.
The DOJ chief has already requested the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct a thorough autopsy.
“Nakita naming totoo nga, namatay, may namatay na tao, so, immediately, it’s the NBI and that autopsy that’s very important,” he added.
Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft of the Philippine National Police (PNP) clarified that the two middlemen involved in the killing, Crisanto Palana Villamor and Christopher Bacoto are included on the six names provided by Escorial. One under the custody of New Bilibid Prison and the other under Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
