Mariah Carey drops new version of “Oh Santa” with Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson

Christmas will never be complete without Mariah Carey holiday songs playing everywhere. And this year, the “Queen of Christmas” just blessed us with the new version of her classic music “Oh Santa”, featuring Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson.

Prior to its release, Mariah Carey already had her fans buzzing over a potential collaboration with Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson back in October, when she posted a mysterious teaser photo on her Instagram account.

On Friday, December 4, the all-female powerhouse collaboration finally arrived. And as expected, the song is filled with high notes, as well as the Mariah and Ariana harmonizing whistle — which most fans had been dreaming of to happen.

The new version of Oh Santa is just a part of Carey’s new Apple TV+ Magical Christmas special, released on the same day.

During Carey’s recent interview with Billboard, the artist shared her thoughts about the new collaboration.

"I wrote 'Oh Santa!' for my album Merry Christmas II You, which was sort of the follow-up to my first Christmas album — we have several, and so I think it was all about the actual event, of course, of doing 'Oh Santa!' with Jennifer and Ari, but it was also like, how do I see this as a producer?" Carey told Billboard.

"How do I see these vocals having different textures, what are they? Because originally, I was blending with myself, which that's kind of one of my favorite things, but it was cool to be able to work with the different vocal textures and play around with it and reimagine it. So that's what happened. And visually, in the special, it really does feel like a girl group moment. I think we all had a good time with it. That was the fun part about it." She added.

In addition to Grande and Hudson, Mariah's Magical Christmas Special features guest appearances by Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Carey's twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

Mariah Carey composed and sung the holiday hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You”. As to date, Carey is hailed as the best-selling female artist of all time, and currently holds the most number 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 by a female artist, and second of all time, next to The Beatles.
