A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck the province of Abra on the evening of October 25. According to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Phivolcs, the earthquake was recorded at 10:59 PM with a depth of 011km with the epicenter at Tineg, Abra. Phivolcs corrected its earlier record from magnitude 6.7 to 6.4.

The earthquake caused massive damages on infrastractures and historical buildings in the province including the church of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente also known as the Aglipayan Church. The Nuestra Señora de La Paz is one of the oldest Aglipayan churches which was built in the 1880s.

In a post by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chairman Dominic Valera, suspensions on school and agencies have been approved.

"Due to the 6.7 magnitude earthquake where the municipality of Tineg was the epicenter, classes in all levels in both public and private schools, and work in all local and national government agencies/offices in the entire province of Abra are hereby suspended on October 26, 2022."

Last July 27, Abra also felt a magnitude 7 earthquake which killed 11 individuals.
