On September 25, Friday, kapamilya actress Julia Barretto went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division to formally file a complaint against Jay Sonza over rumors of the actress’s alleged pregnancy with Gerald Anderson, stated on Sonza’s now deleted post on his Facebook page last September 21.
Part of his Facebook post include “Congratulations sa aking kapitbahay sa Congressional Village, Bahay Toro, Quezon City.”
“Napatunayan nina Visoy (visayan tisoy) Gerald Anderson at anak nina Dennis Padilla at Marjorie na si Julia Barreto na kapuwa hindi sila baog. After months of love lockdown and ESQ (exact sex quadrant) - may nabuo sa sinapupunan ni Julia,” Sonza added.
Sonza ended his post with “Nahinayak ang batang Dadiangas. nasiyot man jud oi. kapugngan pay tren, dili ang gugmang gauros uros tawon. Happy Monday po. Makikibalita ako kung kailan ang kasal sa aking neighbor.”
Barreto then denied the rumor that she is pregnant, same day of Sonza’s Facebook posting, with an Instagram photo revealing her toned abs with a caption “FAKE NEWS.”
Last Wednesday, September 23, Sonza posted the following on his same Facebook page, to take back what he has formerly written:
“Hindi ako buntis. – Julia
Hindi buntis ang anak ko. – Marjorie
May umamin kasi kaya nagalak ako.
Kung ganoon po, binabawi ko ang aking masayang pagbati.
Happy & excited kasi ako kapag may nabibiyayan ng Buhay.
Pasensiya na kung napaaga ang aking Congratulations.”
Despite the post made by Sonza last Wednesday retracting his earlier statements, Julia still pursued in filing a case against him.
Barretto was accompanied by her mother Marjorie Barretto, as they personally went to the NBI Cybercrime Division to ask the Bureau to investigate the “untrue and irresponsible statements made by Sonza on his social media account.”
“I am pursuing this case because the statements made by Mr. Sonza are untrue and irresponsible. The widespread reposting of the news based on his post caused distress to me and my family. I don’t want to take this matter lightly. Mr. Sonza, and all those who publish these reckless and baseless posts, must be held accountable for their actions so that they think twice before claiming things as fact,” said Julia.
In an interview with MJ Felipe, Julia said “andami ko na ring pinagdaanan, ang dami ko na ring pinalampas lalo na sa social media, binastos na ang reputation ko, ang pangalan ko. I think I just want to show people na hindi ko na pinapalampas yung mga bagay na ganito.”
Marjorie Barretto also stressed that the irresponsible and baseless post could harm her daughter's existing contracts.
“Yung pagka-iresponsable mo lang Mr. Sonza, sobra eh. Hindi ka man lang nagtanong sa mga malalapit sa buhay niya. Walang pinanggalingan 'yung sinasabi po ninyo," Julia’s mother said.
"Ang pagkaka-confirm pa ninyo eh baboy 'yung style. 'Di niyo na nirespeto 'yung pagkababae niya at saka bata,” she added.
