One of the many roles Johnny Depp is most famous for is him being Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series franchise. A lot of speculations have been circulating about his comeback for the sixth movie. Will Johnny as Jack set sail again?
Well, it seems that Johnny’s been a bit occupied with his very well-documented court case against ex-spouse Amber Heard who accused him of physical abuse, and him suing her for defamation. This 50 million dollar lawsuit with his ex-wife has led him to land no roles in Hollywood, he even lost his chance for his return in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer, told The Sunday Times that two scripts have been in the ropes for the Pirates 6th movie, one with Margot Robbie, who is speculated to replace Depp, and one without her. Bruckheimer confirmed that Depp will not be involved in the script that is currently being worked on. He was asked if Depp could return for the sixth instalment, Bruckheimer answered: “Not at this point. The future is yet to be decided.”
Depp later told the court that he wished to give the character Captain Jack Sparrow a proper goodbye. “My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye, as it were,” Depp said. “A franchise can only last for so long, and there’s a way to end a franchise like that, and I thought that the characters deserved to have their way out, to end the franchise on a very good note. I planned on continuing until it was time to stop.”
