#HolyWeekatHome: Go On Virtual Visita Iglesia While on Quarantine
By Jhoemz Vercide 09 Apr 2020 1216

Just because Metro Manila is under lockdown, it doesn’t mean that we can’t do some of our traditional practices during Lenten season.

We can build an altar at home or attend some online Holy Week events online.

Catholics can virtually visit the churches from the safety of their homes as Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines or CBCP opens Visita Iglesia online.

Without violating the government-imposed enhanced community quarantine and physical distancing, we can still do Visita Iglesia as one of our ways to atone for their sins.

Just visit Google Maps on the web, type in a destination, perhaps a church you'd like to visit, and then view a specific area by dragging the Pegman located at the bottom right of your screen.

Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippine (CBCP) media director, Msgr, Pedro Quitorio said that it has opened to the public its Visita Iglesia Online, which for the last nine years was only intended for Filipinos living in non-Catholic countries and those who were sick or homebound.

“Today, when everybody is in quarantine and all liturgy in physical churches are closed to people, Visita Iglesia continues to be a portal for online retreats, catechesis, and liturgical celebrations,” he said.

Thanks to technology and the internet, we all can still practice our holy week tradition amid the COVID-19 crisis.
