Creating and producing great content can be downright difficult. From graphic designing, to writing, it’s usually hard to start something or produce something spontaneously when you are all tired and your brain no longer helps you to continue.
Creative constipation is indeed a hindrance for us who are in the creative industry. And as a writer, I have discovered my own ways to overcome creative block. Here are a few ways of what you can do to relieve it:
Take a break
Creative block usually occurs when one encounters stress in the middle of his task. Taking a break in general is a necessary way in order for you to overcome your creative constipation. This could really help you to rest your mind and pause for a while.
Take a shower
Taking a shower is another way of taking a break. It works well for me personally whenever I am experiencing a writer’s block. This really helps me to bring back my creative juices and think thoroughly. The water also helps me to cool down and refresh my brain for a while.
Get a quality sleep
It is important to get a complete quality of sleep mostly for us who are in the creative industry. Sleeping is the only part of the day where we can 100% take a rest, including our brain. Sleeping also restores the body, benefits our brain cells as fatigue sucks out the energy and creativity from you. And lastly, it’s free.
If you hit the block mid-flow, a change of scenery can help re-stimulate your mind. You can take your dog for a walk, visit the shops near you. At least walk away from your desk. The goal is to take your eyes a break from the same scene you have been seeing for a couple of hour.
Do something different
There are some good options for you when the block hits you, at the same time that would not distract you to continue. You can have a go of on a break to help to refresh your energy, such as exercising, meditating, brewing a cup of coffee or reading a couple of chapters of a book.
Lastly, when the creative constipation hits you, feeling the pressure as you are approaching the deadline will never help. So just relax, take a deep breath, you don’t have to be working 100% all the time. That’s why taking a break is recommended to us.
