Planning to go outside after MECQ, ready not just your masks but also your face shields to get rid of the virus!
On August 3, the Department of Transportation has issued a memorandum requiring "all passengers in areas where public transportation is allowed" to wear face shields aside from face masks effective on August 15.
The Memorandum Circular No. 2020-014 was issued by Atty. Artemio U. Tuazon Jr., the Department of Transportation's (DOTr) Undersecretary for Administrative Service, and will be requiring all commuters and drivers to follow this new additional health standard to tighten our defense from the virus and prevent the rapid transmission.
The order is applicable to all public transports in the country, including the aviation sector, maritime sector, airports, railway transport, and road transport.
Atty. Tuazon Jr. said that the face shield worn inside the public transport should “sufficiently cover the nose and mouth.”
Sure, the new mandatory would be seen as an additional cost for public transport commuters and drivers but DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade firmly said that there’s no amount of protection is too much when it comes to health and safety.
As of 4 pm today, August 6, 2020, the Philippines has a total of 119,460 confirmed cases according to the Department of Health, do you think this new protocol will help to slow down the statistics?
