French-Filipina stunner Gwendolyne Fourniol hailing from Negros Occidental was crowned Miss World Philippines 2022 on June 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena besting 35 other equally beautiful candidates.
This 21-year old beauty queen who also competed in the last year's edition where she ended up as part of the top 15 was crowned by her predecessor Tracy Maureen Perez from Cebu who finished top 12 in Miss World 2021 in Puerto Rico.
In the final question and answer segment, Fourniol was asked the question, "How do we cope with an education deficit accumulated due to the pandemic?"
On her winning answer, she said: "As an advocate of education, I do agree that during the pandemic, we have suffered the most but the children who have the lack of access to education have suffered the greatest and working hand in hand with ERDA Foundation who empowered the marginalized Filipinos, I believe by uniting benefactors and encouraging our children and allowing them to go back to school especially during this pandemic will make this world a better place because education is the greatest weapon against poverty."
Fournioul is set to compete in this year's Miss World pageant with the exact date and venue is yet to be announced. After several tries from the past winners, she is aiming to bring home the second elusive blue crown after Megan Young in 2013.
