While other food delivery riders have been suspended after homophobic remarks over McDonald’s BTS Meal, Benjamin Baetiong earned rewards for simply being a decent human being.

Baetiong was a subject of a social media campaign launched by BTS fans (aka ARMYs) which saw him receive donations upwards of PHP 45,0000. The rider initially shared how grateful he was to McDo’s newest offering, which has led to a surge in deliveries.

“Lakas ng BTS meal ngaun. Umaarangkada na.. kme mga Foodpanda rides.. masayang dedeliver sa inyo ang bts meal.. kya mga bts fans.. dyn.. gogogogo na order na kyo,” said Baetiong in his Facebook post.

As of writing, the rider’s social media post has garnered almost 240K reactions, 78K shares, and 1.5K comments.

The Kpop’s fandom in the country has expressed their appreciation towards the rider and his optimism who took good care of the meal’s packaging as a sign of support and respect to the customers ordering BTS meal. The fandom gathered some amount for the rider.

A netizen initiated the fund raising, which initially reached to P40, 000. After a few moments, the amount has reached P45, 230.77. Aside from cash, Kuya Benjamin also received a few sets of BTS meal from McDonald’s.

Within 12 hours, the amount far exceeded the goal and notched over PHP 45,000.

‘I hope that this would also become (serve as) an awareness to others, that a little kindness and respect goes a long way, and that you will be rewarded with every good deed’, wrote one of the organizers.

Since the start of the campaign, Baetiong has been filled with overflowing gratitude in his viral Facebook posts. According to him, the amount will be used to help his family and his sick father.

‘Salamat po sa lahat lahat. Mabuhay po kayo… BTS ARMY, McDonald’s, and sa Foodpanda. God bless you all!’.

McDonald’s also gave Baetiong a recognition by gifting him his own batch of BTS meals.
