A Filipino lawyer, identified as John Albert Laylo who was visiting the United States for vacation, was shot in the head  by an unidentified suspect.

According to a local source, Laylo who is 35, together with his mother are on an Uber ride  to Philadelphia International Airport  heading to Chicago to visit some family relatives. A man behind in a black vehicle fired six bullets on which one of them hit Laylo's head. Laylo, who was still alive, was immediately rushed to the hospital and on life support but eventually died due to head wounds.

His mother, Lea Laylo, took to her Facebook account the 'real'  story of the shooting incident.

"For the past weeks I have been posting a lot of happenings here in the US, a very well deserved vacation! But yesterday morning at 4:06am something happened! We are the victims of a random shooting here in Philadelphia! My son Jal Laylo was badly hit in his head! I got 3 shrapnel wounds, I’m okay and holding on. Just want to make clear my son is still ALIVE & hanging on!!! Whatever news you heard or read it’s all false!!!! Just wait for my post! Ako ang tunay na nakaka alam ng lahat!!!" she said.

Hours later, she confirmed that Jal, as what they call him, passed away.

"My last happy moments with my son Jal who passed away this morning at 10:33am EST time. I thank God for the 35 years of his life. I’m beyond grateful for having a good, smart, generous, loving, caring son. These are the adjectives I can think of now. I’m lost for words!"

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Philippine Consulate General in New York headed by Elmer Cato, says that the Filipino Community is present to support the family in these difficult times. He also mentioned that they are in touch with the police authorities to bring the perpetrator of this incident to justice.
