Donate Now: These Online Applications have step up to Help Fight COVID-19 Pandemic Outbreak
By Airah Agustin 10 Apr 2020 1016

All of us is greatly affected by the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. With the Enhanced Community Quarantine taking place, people have lost their livelihood and jobs, thus not being able to provide themselves and their families with basic necessities. Here are some of the ways that you can help those in need.

  • Angkas

Our favorite motorcycle ride-hailing company has launched donation drives both to help our medical frontliners and also to help their riders. They have been crowdsourcing donations of PPEs and ready-to-eat products for our healthcare workers, to be picked up from the donor and delivered straight to the hospitals. The company also is asking for donations for their riders, who lost their earnings because of the mass transportation ban in the midst of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

You may also order your food in one of their partner restaurants and have it delivered to you. All proceeds of this will go directly to the rider. Angkas Padala is also available in their app.

  • GCash’s #FightCOVID19

GCash partnered up with different organizations such as the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), World Vision, UP Medical Foundation, PGH Foundation, Inc., ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, and Ayala Foundation— who each have their own donation drives — for a faster and hassle-free donation.

To send their support, GCash users simply have to click on the “Pay Bills” icon on their GCash apps, choose the “Others” tab, and click on “FightCOVID19.” GCash users then have to enter their name and the amount that they are donating to confirm their donation.

  • Paymaya’s #OneAgainstCOVID19

The online payment platform launched its own donation drive called #OneAgainstCOVID19, which added service to which people easily donate to different organizations in the Philippines. This is to help raise funds for frontliners and vulnerable communities during this outbreak.

  • Globe Rewards’ Donation Drive

The Telco giant called for its consumers to join the fight against COVID-19 by donating their Globe Rewards Points to the PGH Medical Foundation, Inc. Globe has also extended the validity of their 2019 points from March 31 up to June 30, 2020. By this, more people can enjoy their points to redeem or they may choose to donate it to provide necessities of our medical frontliners.

  • PAWSsion Project

Animals need our help too.

Pawssion Project is an animal non-government organization that aims to rescue stray dogs and dogs in need of help, spread awareness on responsible pet ownership and provide quality life to the rescued dogs. During the ECQ, they have been feeding stray dogs and cats in 6 different cities and have been very vocal about their need for donations.

They crucially need monetary donations for their feeding programs and shelter animals, as well as their employees who work tirelessly to be able to feed these animals.

You may visit their website and social media accounts for more information on how to donate:

Many more organizations and individual people have created their own donation drive in order to keep us afloat during the outbreak. You may or may not be able to help with the monetary or in-kind donations, but always remember that staying indoors and taking precautionary measures in order to keep you and your family safe from the virus is the best gift that you can give to the community.
