Disney fans are astounded in one of 2021’s phenomenal Disney movie: Encanto. A story of Madrigal family who were given a miraculous candle that gives life to casita (house) and each family member’s gift or miracle except Mirabel Madrigal.

Abuela Alma Madrigal, wife of the late Pedro Madrigal is the eldest in the family. Her power is to call and produce butterflies and it’s her solemn duty to protect her family, community and the gifts. She has three children namely Pepa Madrigal whose power is to create different types of weather, Julieta Madrigal who cooks any food and can heal all kinds of diseases and Bruno Madrigal who can see visions and the future itself.

Next generation in line are the following: Camilo Madrigal who has a power of shape shifting, Antonio Madrigal who is the youngest in the family and has a power to talk with the animals, Dolores Madrigal who can hear even the softest whisper in town, Luisa Madrigal who has an unlimited strength and Isabela Madrigal who can produce flowers and plants.

This family and their gifts help the community in a daily basis. But the question is Does each character in Disney’s Encanto has curse?

As seen in the movie, each member has an unspoken problem. Luisa is struggling with her anxiety in defending her family and to what extent her ability is. Isabela is tired of being the perfect grandchild and almost marry the man that she does not love. Dolores on the other hand, almost had a broken heart when the man she loves most didn’t saw her or choose her at first. Antonio is having some trouble whenever he is working on his own. Camilo who is also tired in being who he really is since his power is shape shifter. Pepa has panic attacks which causes her weather and cloud over her head to shift fast. Bruno left his home because of fear in his visions. Julieta is tired defending her child Mirabel over her mom Abuela. And Abuela herself is a perfectionist.

These are the curses in each family member which were solved by Mirabel. The non-gifted member of Madrigal family. Later in the movie, she became the miraculous candle herself and brightens up the newly renovated casita of the family. Through her, Abuela realizes that the truest essence or gift in her family is not the miraculous candle but it’s being true to themselves and the love of family which makes them stronger.
