BTS members announce hiatus, will they come back?
By Norman Son Adriano 15 Jun 2022 670

After dropping their 9th anniversary anthology album entitled 'Proof' last June 10, BTS members announced on June 14 that they will be having a hiatus as a group.

During the debut anniversary party called #2022BTSFesta which was streamed on their Youtube channel, the popular boy group reminisced their precious moments together at their house especially now that it's contract nearly ended. How 7 guys with different personalities and preferences in their early to mid 20's lived together for years in a small home was truly an experience for them.

Moreover, the group also talked about their uncertainty as a band during the beginning of the pandemic. Supposedly, a world tour was about to happen in India, Australia  and Barcelona, which they revealed was a first time country for them to visit but got canceled. They took a break for a couple months and were doubtful on what is next. Nonetheless, during the middle of the pandemic, they released their singles ‘Dynamite’, ‘Butter’ and ‘Life Goes On’ which eventually became their breakthrough moment. It all became  global hits, topped charts and won multiple awards in South Korea and other recognized music awards globally.

However, with this massive success worldwide, RM, the leader of the pack, pondered that the group  has definitely changed a lot. For him, the group has lost its identity and personally needed to take some time alone to do things that they really wanted.

"I didn't know what kind of group we were anymore," he said.

"I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with KPOP and the whole idol system is that they don't give you time to mature. You have to keep producing music and keep doing something," RM added.

On the other hand, Jimin also shared his sentiments on why the group came up with the difficult decision on taking a break.

"I think now we are  starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered by our fans. I think that's why we are going through a rough patch right now, we are trying to find our identity and that's an exhausting and long process," he explained.

The youngest of the group Jungkook promised fans that they will return again as the better version of themselves.

"Everyone has a timeline that's right for them. Army will have their own motivations and time as well. This timing should've come to us earlier but I guess we held it off."

"We're going to take some time to have fun and experience lots of things. We promise we will return someday." he said.

BTS clarified that they will be only on hiatus and not disbanding.  Each member will now focus on their solo music career and will release their own music and contents.
