After the hiatus announcement made by the popular South Korean  boy group BTS in June 2022, members already started working and pursuing their individual music careers.  Kim Seok-jin popularly known as Jin surprises fans as he  unveiled his first solo single album entitled "The Astronaut" that would be released on October 28 at 1 p.m. KST.

The official poster of the album was posted on Big Hit’s twitter account with 340,000 likes and 176,000 retweets. 

According to the group's management, Jin's single is a gift made with love dedicated to all the fans who have been continuously supporting them. 

“Since it’s a song made with so much love toward the fans, we hope ‘The Astronaut’ can be a gift to all of you."

The rumors was officially confirmed that the upcoming single is a collaboration and co-written with the British rock band Coldplay. 

Last year, Coldplay teamed up with BTS with the hit  "My Universe," which garnered more than 500 million streams on Spotify.

Jin will be the second member to release a single after J-Hope’s “Jack in the Box”. 

After the release of his music, Jin will be starting to conduct his military duties as he will be the first one to serve in the compulsory military service among the seven members according to HYBE.
