BTS’ member J-hope made history after being tapped to be a headliner on July 31st at the Lollapalooza Music Festival 2022. He is the first South Korean idol who will perform on the main event. Lollapalooza is an annual four-day music festival that will happen on July 28th - 31st which will be held at the historic Grant Park, Chicago.
On Lollapalooza Twitter account, they officially announced on June 8 that J-hope will be on the lineup of performers together with the biggest names in the industry.
"We're thrilled to announce #jhope of @bts_bighit will headline #Lolla 2022 on Sun, July 31st! 🙌 His performance will make history, cementing him as the first South Korean artist to headline a main stage at a major U.S. music festival."
On his Instagram, the K-pop superstar posted the official poster of the event. J-hope is delightyfully thrilled to be part of Lollapalooza and for him, this milestone is a memorable chapter in his music career.
“This is going to be my first performance at @lollapalooza. It's a thrilling new challenge that I think will become a really memorable chapter in my musical history! I'm gonna give you guys a great show. Get ready to get crazyyyyyy! 😬😁🥰” he captioned.
Aside from him, South Korean boy band Tomorrow X Together which is popularly known as TXT from Big Hit will also make their U.S. music festival debut. The group will be performing on July 30.
Metallica, Dua Lipa, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Baby, J. Cole, Green Day, and Kygo were also set to headline the biggest music festival.
