Blackpink is officially back! After a year and a half of hiatus, the girls of South Korean girl group Blackpink: Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé made history yet again by doing a project with Rolling Stone, and being on the magazine’s cover for the month of June.

They are the first girl group to be on the cover of the male dominated music publication company in twenty years. Spice Girls were the first in 1997, followed by Destiny’s Child in 2001. 

During their hiatus, the girls took over the fashion world and became ambassadors of luxury brands, the likes of Dior, Chanel, Saint Laurent, and Celine. Jisoo debuted as an actor and starred in her first main lead series, Snowdrop. Rosé and Lisa released their single albums: R and Lalisa, respectively.

It’s no surprise that Blackpink wishes to comeback with style, as they are known to break history and records when it comes to their music. 

Their last album called “The Album”, sold around 1.2 million copies in less than a month after its 2020 release, making them the first million-selling K-pop girl group.

The photoshoot with Rolling Stone was accompanied with an in depth interview regarding how they met,  the girls’ lives as former trainees, the difficult parts of their journey as a group, family life, and their creative process, their endless rehearsals at YG Entertainment that has paid off since debuting. 

Blinks, Blackpink’s fanbase, had been making guesses and theorising the group’s return  ever since and turns out they’re right. Fans celebrated their historic cover with Rolling Stone and thanked the publication company for it. #BLACKPINKxRollingStone and WELCOME BACK BLACKPINK trends worldwide with over a million tweets.

In the Rolling Stone interview, the girls confirmed that they’re currently working on their next release which is set to come later this year. 

Blackpink is already preparing for the next two years and is very much excited to get back to music as soon as they can.
