This is not a drill, The Itchyworms is finally set to launch their new album, plus a virtual event, happening on August 17, 2020, Monday, from 7:30 PM onwards, only via The Itchyworms Facebook page!

A few hours before the release of the album, The Itchyworms will be hosting their very first virtual launch with online listening and live commentary party to celebrate their highly anticipated quarantine-themed fifth album, entitled “Waiting For The End To Start,” which consists of 9 songs.

“It could mean whatever,” stressed The Itchyworms guitarist and vocalist Jugs Jugueta during their interview with ABS-CBN about their new album. “Depende kung saan ka ngayon, it can refer to relationships such as the end of one and the start of being single or vice versa.”

“Malungkot 'yung songs namin,” said Jazz Nicolas, the drummer and vocalist of the alternative rock act. “But when we play them, we don’t try to make them sound sad because the lyrics are already sad," he added.

According to Sony Music Philippines, The Itchyworms’ upcoming studio album, “Waiting For The End To Start” was conceptualized and recorded with the members of the band while in their respective homes during the nationwide lockdown. Thus, the fifth album was recorded with what equipment was available in their homes.

“I haven’t been happy with this in a while,” said the guitarist Chino Singson. “I have this greatest sense of satisfaction. I had more time with the work flow. Mas nabigyan ko ng care 'yung guitar parts. Of course, in no small part because the songs are so good. I discovered given enough time, I can craft good guitar parts. Unlike in the studio before the dinner break may magandang part na nailapat.”

One of the first songs that were released online from the album, “The Silence,” a song that has a post-apocalyptic movie vibe, reflects the solitude and isolation one has been feeling during the lockdown, as people are mostly unable to go out and express one’s struggle and challenges. The song is accompanied by a music video—consisting of people who have been in their homes during quarantine.
